Job Description

VisitPITTSBURGH is seeking a strategic and creative Corporate Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and executing communication plans and materials that effectively engage specific audiences. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong storytelling and media relations skills, adept in navigating a variety of communications environments— from corporate and trade to local media relations.

Essential Functions

• Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications & Public Affairs, the Corporate Communications Manager will write, edit and distribute a variety of communications materials to further advance VisitPITTSBURGH’s mission of driving visitation and economic impact.

• While contributing to the entire Communications function at VisitPITTSBURGH, the Corporate Communications Manager will largely focus on supporting SportsPITTSBURGH and Business Events through strategic message development, presentations, case studies, talking points, press releases, pitches, and other communications-related activities, as needed.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional and national journalists and media outlets.

• Assist with media inquiries and coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media events.

• Monitor and report on media coverage and industry trends to provide actionable insights and key takeaways.

• Collaborate across the Communications team to drive publicity for Pittsburgh, including supporting press trips, calls for submission, and more.

• Work within VisitPITTSBURGH’s image database to build digital media kits to support press releases, events, and announcements.

• Maintain and grow VisitPITTSBURGH’s media lists to ensure relevant and timely contacts.

• Assist with executive communications, such as newsletters, letters of support, and media inquiries.

• Support communications-related activities for key annual and upcoming events, such as the VisitPITTSBURGH Annual Meeting, Anthrocon, 2026 NFL Draft and more.

Skills & Specifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience within the field of communications, public relations, journalism or a related field

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or another relevant field

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

• Self-starter with a passion for storytelling who can problem solve and work well in both independent and team environments

• Familiarity with media monitoring tools, media databases, and project management software

• Experience in media relations, i.e. press release writing, media inquiries, and interview coordination • Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
