Reports To: Executive Director for Special Education Duty Days: 238 Days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Pay Grade: I05 Qualifications: Master's degree in administration and/or special education Texas professional certificate
Campus administrative experience preferred
Three years successful campus and/or district administrative experience
Extensive knowledge in the principles of public school administration, administrative methods and techniques, and current trends in special education
Ability to supervise the work of others
Ability to work cooperatively as a member of an inter-departmental team
Primary Purpose: Work directly under the supervision of the Executive Director of Special Education, assume a leadership role in coordinating and supervising instructional supports and related services for students served under the auspices of special education in Katy ISD, and with limited supervision, interpret laws, rules and regulations to students, parents and staff; assist in recruiting, selecting and evaluating staff; assist in preparation of departmental budgets, Due Process and State Compliance Reviews; and prepare reports for federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

- Provide leadership in planning and implementing curriculum and instructional
- Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure exemplary operations in the special education
- Assist with employment and screening of candidates for employment in special
- Assist in the supervision and evaluation of special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff. Supervise and evaluate the performance of support
- Secure contracted services, as needed, to provide the related services specified in individual education
- Recommend campus staffing allocations to address identified needs within established
- Administer the special education budget and ensure that programs are cost effective and funds are managed
- Compile components of special education budgets and cost estimates based on documented program
- Assist other administrators in determining facility needs for students with
- Work collaboratively with district staff to plan and provide professional learning opportunities to meet federal and state mandates and identified local
- Evaluate the performance of professionals under the direct supervision of the
- Conduct internal program reviews, as appropriate, as a means of evaluating program
- Promote positive community relations through effective communication and involvement of parents and.
- Review and revise departmental publications, as needed.
- Monitor campus/district Texas Academic Performance Reports and State Performance Plan in order to provide technical assistance and training and participate in the development of improvement initiatives.
- Prepare documentation and reports for complaint and due process proceedings.
- Manage external and internal funding opportunities to support district initiatives and student needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote and meet local, state, and federal requirements.
- Respond to parent requests related to special education programming and compliance issues.
- Attend staffing and ARD meetings as appropriate.
- Perform all other specified duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education.
- Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
- Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
Equipment Used: Personal computer, typewriter, printer, copier, and fax machine.
Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.Prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions.Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
