We are on the lookout for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and highly organized Immigration Paralegal to join our fast-paced legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys in all aspects of immigration law, including preparing filings of any immigration case type, drafting pleadings, briefs, and discovery, and managing case files. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the legal industry, with a particular focus on immigration law, personal injury plaintiff, and support for the civil litigation process. Experience in the maritime industry will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist attorneys with complex immigration cases, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
2. Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, discovery, and other court submissions.
3. Conduct legal research and factual investigation to support case preparation.
4. Coordinate with clients to gather documents, answer questions, and provide updates on case progress.
5. Manage case files, maintaining organized and up-to-date records.
6. Stay abreast of changes in immigration law and procedure, and court practices and requirements in state and federal court.
7. Support attorneys during trial by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts.
8. Participate in all aspects of the discovery process, including disclosures, production, and interrogatories.
9. If required, provide assistance in cases related to the maritime industry.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably in immigration law.
3. Proven experience in personal injury plaintiff and support civil litigation process.
4. Significant experience drafting pleadings, briefs, discovery, and other court submissions.
5. Proficiency in legal research and in-depth knowledge of court practices and requirements in state and federal court.
6. Familiarity with all phases of the discovery process, including disclosures, production, and interrogatories.
7. Experience in the maritime industry will be considered a plus.
8. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
10. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
11. Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
