UCB is seeking an experienced Senior Manager/Associate Director Public Policy Lead that is a self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results to join us in our US Corporate Affairs team, based in our Washington, DC office.

About the role

You will provide leadership on US federal and state public policy development to positively shape the policy environment; encouraging continued innovation and maximizing patient access to the most appropriate care.

You will be responsible for analyzing, prioritizing, and socializing key policy issues that may have short- and long-term impacts on UCB and the biopharmaceutical industry. You will also be responsible for helping translate policy developments into meaningful direction and strategic advice to various levels of stakeholders both internally and externally.

Who you'll work with

You will be a key interface with priority federal government agencies/organizations (such as HHS, CMS), and will lead partnership efforts with external stakeholders including trade associations, think tanks, and other thought leaders. You will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams as well as federal and state Government Relations and Advocacy teams.

You will work collaboratively across functions to ensure a comprehensive view and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders.These stakeholders include the Global External Engagement Practice, the Commercial Units, Market Access and Pricing, Marketing, Regulatory & Compliance, Legal, and Patient Advocacy.

What you'll do
  • Develop policy positions on priority issues in partnership with leadership from across the global organization
  • Review new rules and regulations to assess implications for patient access to UCB treatments.
  • Assist with the development of materials to be distributed to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend administration and other relevant meetings.
  • Track federal legislation critical to UCB, providing internal updates as legislation moves through the process.
  • Conduct research related to legislation, regulation, CMS guidance, state bill amendments, state regulation, etc.
  • Attend (in-person and/or virtual) policy working group, taskforce, trade association meetings.
  • Engage cross-functionally in Corporate Affairs to develop Issue Briefs, comment letters, and presentations.
  • Work cross-functionally to support Neurology, Immunology, and Rare Diseases & Epilepsies business units.
  • Assist with policy development, coding applications, market access strategy issues, etc.

I nterested? For this role we're looking for the following education, experience and skills

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of relevant healthcare public policy experience and a good working understanding of the U.S. federal policymaking process
  • 3- 5years of experience with federal and state policymaking processes, federal regulatory bodies that monitor and implement health programs, healthcare policy development, and the healthcare ecosystem.
  • 3-5 years of experience in public payer coverage (Medicare, Medicaid and other public health programs), coding and payment policies.

The reasonably anticipated base salary range for this position is $141,000 to $186,000 per year. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
