Job Description - Surgical Technologist - St. John (24000BVO) A Brief Overview The first level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder. What You Will Do Provide safe efficient age-specific nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions to assist them in attaining, maintaining, regaining, and sustaining optimal health status. Provide patient care/function in a primary scrub position. Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures. Assure appropriate instruments/supplies are present and in proper working condition. Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field. Support the operative team, including following patient care handoff protocol. Actively participate in the quality improvement process. Involved in learning and self-improvement. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Education Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program (Required) or Completion of a military Surgical Technologist training program (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture, and surgical procedures (Required proficiency). Ability to use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies (Required proficiency). Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
