Monday – Friday, 10:45AM - 2:15PM

This position would be following the Brentwood School District Calendar.

SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a part-time Teacher's Aide for our UPK program. The Teacher’s Aide will assist the teacher in providing support in the classroom and working within the UPK guidelines. The Teacher’s Aide will be assisting the teacher and students in the day-to-day operation of the classroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Teacher's Aide will follow all Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Day Care regulations and policies.
• Assist the teacher in using the district adopted curriculum and materials.
• Utilize positive classroom management techniques to guide student's behavior in a structured, positive and nurturing manner.
• The Teacher's Aide will review expectations and class rules daily.
• Assist in creating and using individual behavior management plans when necessary.
• The Teacher's Aide will help in conducting assessments in accordance with school district guidelines as needed.
• Maintain accurate and complete records.
• Maintain a safe, clean and cheerful classroom environment, with appropriate and varied materials available to all students.
• Serve as a role model to students. Demonstrate and facilitate appropriate conflict resolution and model kindness and empathy toward others.
• Maintain flexibility as reassignment may be necessary.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required.

At least 6 months of experience working in a classroom or a pre-school setting preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills required.

Must possess the ability to communicate in a positive and empathetic manner with children.

Spanish language fluency preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical activities require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of the whole body, such as bending, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, and handling of various types of materials.

Heavy lifting may be required.
