Position: Wargaming Analyst (Entry Level to Senior)
Location: Suffolk, VA
Overview: Group W is searching for analysts with a passion for wargaming to support defense wargames and analyses. Senior applicants should have experience supporting defense wargames and analyses. All applicants must have a demonstrated interest in the art of wargaming. Tasks will range from wargame design, development, facilitation, and analysis activities.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in operations research, mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, computer science or other technical discipline
- Experience in a variety of mathematical, statistical, and computer science areas
- Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
- U.S. Citizenship
Preferred:
- Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Master's or Ph.D. from an accredited university in operations research, mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, computer science, or other technical discipline
- Experience in an educational, defense, or military wargaming environment and/or modeling and simulation
- Experience planning, designing, and executing military wargames
- Subject matter expertise related to computer and information systems
- Technical knowledge and experience in the analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments
- Expertise in military systems and processes
- Experience briefing and/or working with military and civilian leaders of all ranks
- Basic technical support experience in digital wargaming
- Experience authoring reports, policy, or proposals
- Proven analysis and critical thinking skills
- Ability to lead and manage people as directed
- Effective communication (verbal written, listening) and interpersonal skills
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Employ knowledge of modeling and simulation and/or wargaming, to support exercise planning, design, coordination, analysis, facilitation, demonstrations, and instruction of digital wargames
- Develop game-related materials for a variety of professional military educational curricula
- Perform mid to senior level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, training, and implementation on complex problems
- Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information to support decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions
- Interface with the client and Group W team members on the development of wargame designs to address a variety of strategic to tactical problems
- Assist with the planning and execution of requirements for wargaming exercises, including data analysis, scenario development, event logistics, and after-action reporting
- Review and prioritize tasks based on government requirements
- Develop and implement new research objectives using defined methods of approach
- Work with small government, contractor, and game designers to assist in establishing objectives and the purpose for respective games
- Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems related to Defense systems capacity, limitations, operating times, and desired results
- Support post-wargame assessment
- Coordinate and integrate qualitative and quantitative analysis, models, and tools in the support of wargame data collection and synthesizing wargame results
- Conduct wargaming research and literature reviews
- Write wargaming reports throughout the process from pre-game analysis to post-game assessment
Salary: $80,000 - $175,000 (provided as a general guideline only. Compensation dependent upon relevant work experience related to the scope of the position, education, training, and market considerations).
