Position: Scale Operator Reports to: Director of Forest Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Overview: The Scale Operator is responsible for accurately weighing and recording incoming and outgoing shipments of timber products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company procedures. Responsibilities: Operate traffic control devices or use hand movements to allow safe truck movement in and out of the scale and the facility. Maintain a controlled environment in scale house to ensure proper operation of the scale system; maximize scale uptime. Operate truck scale to weigh loads. Issue receipts to vehicle driver and collect tickets. Check all components of the weigh scale system to confirm that it is in proper working order. Notify maintenance if there are any issues with the scale facility. Maintain scale, scale house, and scale house grounds. Perform light housekeeping of the office, bathroom, porch, picnic area, and the scale. Maintain a daily log showing every vehicle that transitions the scale, noting the operator, vehicle number (if available), in and outbound weight, and the type of load. Confirm the accuracy of the scale tickets and the daily log. Communicate with USFS / State of Arizona / other sale owners as needed. Perform basic mathematical skills. Use a radio to communicate with co-workers. Answer phone, record messages, and provide routine information to drivers. Ability to use a computer and learn software applications associated with the scale system. Work safely, constantly monitoring the hazardous conditions and risks present in the immediate area. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in the forestry or timber industry, is preferred. Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately measure and record numerical data. Proficiency with computer systems and data entry, including experience with relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, inventory management systems). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support operational requirements. Restoration Forest Products
